Hello Guys. I have a 95 XJR I am wanting to purchase some longtube headers. However, I have 4 02 sensors. In UK spec it didn't affect as the 02 sensor position and only have two.
We dont have vehicle inspections here so no need for cats, but how do i get the vehicle running correctly? I have heard horror stories that that go into a limp mode.
There is a guy on facebook who made a batch and sells short tube/medium headers. They are a 6-2-1 I think.
I'm pretty sure the guy is in this group > https://www.facebook.com/groups/XJR6supercharged but I can't find a pic from him. He may be on this site too.
As far as tuning goes I'm not much help, I can't seem to get my stock XJR to pass emissions.
Regardless of the need to pass emissions testing, having O2 sensors isn’t a bad idea. They help the ECU to optimise the mixture and contribute to smooth ( and more economical) running and the entire power train was designed to work with them. They are not difficult to plumb in to a bespoke down pipe system, and they don’t have to match the original positions precisely. The interests of simplicity would suggest replicating the number of sensors your car came with, although as you have already noted, UK cars only had two. The ECU needs to match the O2 sensor set up selected.
