Default Looking at a 96 XJR

Hello, this is my first post and I have wanted an XJR for about 6 years. It's hard to find a clean one in the plains. I found a 96 with 100K on her. The exterior is pretty good and interior is average. Most of the eletrical components work except for the driver's heated seat and clock. The problems are it looks like the maintenence wasn't kept up. She's at that point that she drives, but needs so TLC to be a daily driver. Issues, rack and pinion is leaking, TC light is on, ABS light is on, smog pump is not connected, she has a miss and all original hoses. What do you think she is worth? Would you pay like $3,000-4,000? I'm pretty sure the TC and ABS is a sensor, it only turned on when I drove the car, no fault idleing. The miss should be a plug or coil, she drove smooth but shakes every 30-40 seconds whiel idleing. Any suggestions?

Drew, I just bought an XJ6 for $3500. Paint was cooked, interior pretty good, power steering leak, no radio, no clock. engine purrs like a cat though. Found a reconditioned radio for 125, powersteering hose 110,(another 70 to install) 20 hours of labor buffing the paint. But I'm really happy with her now. I do know that the 96 was the last year before they began lining the engine with that teflon like Nikasil, which is known to fail especially in the XJR. so thats a good year. Good luck. We need more people on here. Randall
