My airpump doesn"t come on anymore when i first start my 96 vdp. When it quit, my insufficient airflow fault also went away! I was wondering if i even need to replace the airpump? What all does the airpump do? Thanks

 

The airpump is a polution control device only - pumps air into the exhaust stream and so on and so forth. A rebuild will run you about $150.00 USD. Check the fuse that controls the air pump to see if it's burned out. If you must change the air pump you must change the check valve that controls flow out of the air pump. Usually the check valve will crap out first and take the air pump with it.
Not a bad job for the DIYer.
