Default Now discovering damage done - HELP PLEASE

OK, so I pranged the car - hit ice, glancing blow to front drivers side wing on plastic thingy on centre of road, bumper loose on that side, big dinge in wing. Cracked reflector, replacement already bought from ebay. Off to mechanic to repair - expense I could have done without.

Windscreen washer previously wasn't working but after bump washer fluid light was on.

Went back to scene of accident yesterday to see if I could find wheel centre cap now that snow has melted - no centre cap (new set ordered), BUT worse! What I find is what looks to be washer sensor, washer motor (would part number 240696 sound right for this - black and white thing with 2 prongs on one end and what I think is motor spindle on other), bits of shredded clear plastic (bits of bottle possibly?) and lump of large black plastic shaped not unlike part of leaf blower - brake coolant vent? Also notice external temp sensor is way way out as it sure as hell wasn't 18 degrees out in belfast today!

Anyone any idea what damage I've really done and how much to repair? Any other damage I may have done? Car still driving fine but less perfect than i want it to be, and defective windscreen washer is mot fail

Is full water bottle assembly, pump and sensor major job to replace? Found a really good mechanic / body work guy in east belfast but wondering how big these jobs are

Many many thanks

Just disconnect the pump(s) electrics mine has two pumps , take off the water lines, there's four bolts that hold the Water bottle in place you get to them from under the car. And the whole thing drops down.. Took me 15 minutes job and finish.. Just reverse to put back in.

any ideas on the other 'issues' - exterior temp sensor and fallen off big lump of black plastic? Apparently might be part of underside of bumper protector that fell off

Talked to a jag specialist this evening and if car is driving ok unlikely to have done major damage

ta again

'Big lump of plastic like part of a leaf blower' - hard to say. Does your car still have the undertray on it? If not (quite likely as they don't tend to last long), just stick your head under the front of the car and see if your brake cooling ducts are still intact.

Do you get any climate control errors? It'll be beeping at you every time you start the car if the external air temp sensor is completely ruined/disconnected. That sensor is small and easy to replace.

Your welcome mate not sure about your other stuff of hand. If your water pump is not working then do what I did went to the scrap yard found a pump that fitted the hole also located a level sending unit which seemed to work okay. The yard gave them to me. I then tested the circuit just to be sure that part was good. Once I re-installed the bottle connected the water pipes and power worked like a charm plus the price was right..

Simprof.. Good look with the rest..

Simprof, we don't have scrapyards in northern ireland.....we eat children first then used cars!-) Children are more plentiful!

Oubadah, no climate control as i've never used it or tried it if i've got it so no major beeping...think since i hit the think alarm beeps are louder - in norn ireland we dont get climate we just get weather! Will take your advice and guidance though, as undertray sounds like good idea given i will run this jag into ground - i love my big cat! (Even if it will end me up in bakruptcy court - feckin petrol seems to have just gone up again, even before duty and VAT rise!)

Needless to say all help and advice gratefully received

The most important thing to do now is take a deep breath! You have some bolt on part damage and it is all easily repairable. And you really don't have breakers (scrap yards) there? Why not?

Sparkenzap (cool name incidentally) - we don't have breakers or scrap yards in norn iron - honest! At least not that i can find..my idea of heaven for a saturday when i lived in nj was large toolbox, 12 pack, and off to the junkyard with no idea what i was looking for but plenty of old lincolns (drove 85 towncar then) - great to get away from the then wife

I'd love to find a good junkyard over here

The leaf blower part is a cooling duct for the brakes.

Default Thanks Drew

Thanks

How essential is it I replace, and where do I find one? Part number? Is this a safety issue? Could this also affect external termp sensor as mine seems to be reading really high?

Still looking for full washer bottle assembly, pump and sensor as I'm convinced I've knackered the lot
