If you don't like their prices, then don't buy their stuff.

Remember these cars are getting old now
When they where new they cost a lot of money so the accessories would have been reasonable compared to the cost of the car as the prices of these cars fall that doesn't mean the accessory's will fall in price
If anything the accessory's get harder to find as not worth making them for a dwindling market
I tried to purchse a set of extended seat rails from Arden last year they had them listed on their site when I finally got through to them I was told they don't stock them any more it was going to cost me 2 grand for a pair of them as they had to make them specially
I instead bought a set of seat bases minus the seats from the US shipped them to Australia then experimented once I figured out how to do it
I then did it to my own bases and sold the modified ones on Ebay ended up costing me $500 in total seems like a lot just to move the seat back a couple inches
Being 6,3 tall I was sick of feeling like I was in a small car when the outside is so big I also did the passenger seat as well as my wife is 5,10 tall and in case I am in the passendger seat I want to be comfortable as well
That's why these forums are so good lots of advice some good some bad but in the end we are all the same we like our cars otherwise we would be driving bland cars

Shaune,
You have to read the fine print. That steering wheel is pretty amazing. They've engineered a void in the base of the wheel which is filled with salt water, then injected with genetically modified minature beluga whales which produce an ounce of caviar each time you make a left turn. The wheel pays for itself after a simple afternoon of running errands.

I'm curious as to why you are in attack mode. Your reply makes it sound like I started the thread off by saying "Look at all this cheap Chinese-made junk" which I did not. Do you always make things into something they're not?Originally Posted by Vector

There's no question in my mind of the high-quality items Arden has to offer as with most German built stuff.
Maybe you were offended by me using the word 'overpriced'. If $6,700.00 US is not overpriced for a new headliner and pillar upholstering w/installation, then clearly I need to find a career that pays more. Perhaps where you work $6,700.00 is chump change. Good for you

FWIW, the caviar part makes perfect sense.

I think that beyond the odd shift knob or shift gate surround, purchases from Arden are not that commonly mentioned on JF. Or at least, not in the X300/X308 sections. Perhaps more in the XF/X358 sections as those vehicles are newer and the owners laid out more dollars for their cars to begin with.Originally Posted by Vector

Arden may be mentioned a lot, but actual purchases ... not so much.

Perhaps "expensive" would have been more appropriate, but it's your thread so carry on......Originally Posted by shaune

I also did not intend to upset or insult the OP.
I apologize if you got your feelings hurt. That was not my intention.

I gotta ask... when does "expensive" turn to "overpriced" in your vernacular?

doc, among all the venting in this thread, I find your comments on extending the seat rails of great interest. I have already done this on my XK8 and was planning on taking the drivers seat out of my XJ6 to investigate.
I would greatly appreciate a description of how carried out this mod.

I really have no idea, I speak English, not vernacular. Originally Posted by sparkenzap

I think the distinction wobbles into the realm of "opinion" and last time I checked everyone here is allowed to have one.

Of course ! :-)
And here's mine.....
I'm confident that the Arden stuff is very high grade. I strongly suspect that their products are usually purchased by people with disposable income who like high grade stuff and are really not concerned about how much they pay for it ...nor concerned that they can likely buy something just as nice for less money.
There are people out there who can (and will) spend $2100.00 with the same level of nonchalance as I'd have spending $2.10
That's not a criticism, mind you.
Cheers

I did not think it was possible to screw up the rear of an XK, Arden did it, and probably "overcharged" "overpriced" or made it too"expensive"

I wonder how much the replacement brake pads are for the $15,000 brake upgrade? $4000?
As our cars are old, I would think most folks with the spending power to be an Arden customer, would be modding new cars. Not leaving much of a market for 16 years old cars.
If we all had Arden customer finances, chances are we wouldn't drive cars that are nearly two decades old.
OK, go ahead and scream at me...I don't care. I just poured a Gin & tonic.
