Default P0411 corrected now i have a P0430

I just fixed all gaskets and a breather hose off the valve cover ( inch and a half gap in hose) and the air pump kicked on without a problem. So i use my engine reader to check for codes and the original P0411 code has been resolved but now i have a P0430 code. I'm guessing i'm going to need a new cat converter? or possibly an O2 sensor? any ideas

Ahhhhh. P0430. The bane of an X300 owner's life. Well, mine, at least. :-)

Yes, possibly a bad cat converter but also could be.....

-Oxy sensor as you mentioned. With a live-date scan tool you can monitor the Oxy sensors

-Air leak, intake or exhaust. Possible cracked exhaust manifold....fairly common and usually not audible but cracked nevertheless

-Leaky air injector check valve

-Oxy sensor wiring/connector fault resulting in skewed reporting to the ECU

Others will chime in with more.

Cheers

Wouldn't you get an O2 sensor code if it were bad? My exhaust guy cooked one welding the exhaust. I need to find a 'new' one.

You'd think so, yes, but I question the CEL/code set "trigger" parameters on these cars.

i was thinking the P0411 code caused the P0430 code. The air pump wasnt kicking on because of a broken hose sowhen i fixed it it kicked on... maybe it destroyed the converter?

Ok so it's been about month and no check engine light after replacing a breather hose off the valve cover. ( had a nice gash in it) Glad it was an easy fix.
