Driver Side inside door handle

Driver Side inside door handle
Hi, i have read the numerous posts about the door handle cables going bad. I purchased a cable from a used dealer. My question is two fold...
1 - the cable frayed and broken inside the door for the door mechanism. The piece that broke off can't be found. I have received two different cables...one has a "ball" at the end and the other cable as basically a metal "L" shape end. The "other" end of the cable for my car is a "L" shape connector that fits into the small chrome door handle. Does anyone know if this "L" shape is really the correct cable? i.e....did jag make this model car with more then one type of cable connector?
2 - does anyone have any pictures of that layout and the inside door mechanism I can see? since this part of the door is squeezed in pretty tight it looks like i am going to need a small mirror to get this cable in place if it is the correct one...
My car is 1997 Jaguar XJ6L...
thanks,
j

The following diagram from the Parts manual may help to identify whether you have the correct part.

I do recall the lock end of the cable was 'L' shaped and a.f.a.i.k. the driver and passenger side front door cables were identical.
