Angry Parts to stop oil leak

Need help in finding parts to stop oil leaks. I have two leaks. One is the Oil cooler bypass fitting located just below the oil filter. Also the drain plug gasket leaks a little. I found the O rings on Parts Geeks at $2.33 each. Needed four for a total of $$9.32. Fine. In the shopping cart it added $8.95 for shipping 4 "O" rings. OK. I then added one drain plug gasket for $3.63 to the cart. The cart then added another $8.95 for shipping for a total of $17.90 for shipping 4 "O" rings and one small gasket. Does anyone else besides me see a problem with this?

Does any one know where I can get the "O" rings for the oil cooler bypass fitting on my 95 X300? The drain plug gasket can be had easily elsewhere.

Thanks guys

Hello EZ,

Auto Parts Warehouse:

Oil bypass piece O-rings, $0.95 each:

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...nk&CID=2470763

Very easy to replace (but a bit messy). One 13mm nut holds the bypass piece on. There are two stub pipes inside, each with two o-rings.

Get 6 of these too, $1.95 each:
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...nk&CID=2470763

Free shipping if you spend $50.

Apparently they don't list the Jaguar part numbers, only the interchange numbers, but they fit perfectly.

A number of years ago, I purchased a box of 5? 10? don't remember qty, exactly, of the massive oil drain plugs from Rock Auto, each complete with the brass ring....for not very much, don't remember the total.

6 mo or so back, I ordered a dozen of the O-rings. I'll try to look up the source/price later in case Richard's link doesn't work out.

FWIW, I faced your same dilemma trying to get throttle springs from Terry's a few years ago....added more tiny, smallish gubbings to the order and the shipping continued to skyrocket..up north of $25! I gave up and called Motorcarman who s'plained me how to mend the problem using my existing spring!

I've come across the same on a lot of online shopping sites. Very annoying.

Not sure if the vendors just hope someone will actually pay a crazy stupid shipping amount without questioning it.....or if their shipping cost calculators are bollixed up when it comes to tiny parts.

A couple times (I can't remember which specific vendors) I've called the order desk, explained the matter, and the shipping was reduced to a sensible amount, with apologies.

Cheers
