Possible Head Gasket Failure?
Hi All,
My '96 XJR6 has been miss-firing a little on tick-over so today I decided to have a look at the ignition coils to inspect them. When I pulled the one of cylinder 1(?) [The cylinder closest to the front of the car] there was a fair bit of water inside, all around the spark plug. Could this be due to a head gasket failure or have you any other ideas on this?
Many thanks
Paul

It's not likely the water came from gasket failure. Is it actually water or engine coolant? Coolant has the distinct odor of antifreeze and is slippery. Check the reservoir to see if it's low.
More likely the water is leaking past the coil cover as the seals don't last forever. Did you drive through deep puddles or take it through a car wash? I won't ask if it has rained as I've been in England on a number of occasions.

It's not been particularly wet since the problem occurred and it was just the fact that only one cylinder was effected that prompted me to this. But I will inspect closer to try and determine whether or not it's anti-freeze
