I hear about a lot of x300 owners that are always looking for keyfobs, one being myself. I was thinking that instead of trying to battle it out on ebay for a used one, maybe I can just buy a remote car starter kit that has the alarm and unlock/lock features and use those. Is this possible?

Mostly interested in lock/unlock and remote starting.

 

No onse has ever installed or thought about installing a remote start kit? Seriously?

 

Installing a remote starter/locking kit seems to be a drastic response to a missing key fob but, offhand, I don't see any reason it couldn't be done.

Retainaing functionality of the security system might be a problem...but, then again, I think most remote starter kits also include an alarm system as you mention. You could simply abandon the Jaguar system entirely.

Just speculation on my part. I've never done it so I don't know what the problems might be, if any.
