Default shifter solenoid issues and inactive brake lights

Within the past week I've been fighting the car to get it to shift into reverse because of the interlock. Finally noticed tonight the rear lights don't turn on either. Eventually after stepping on the pedal a few times they finally turn on and I can go on my way. If it's the brake switch does anybody have a step by step on how to tackle this? I would love some insight please.

Default check this out

go to this thread: Correct brake light switch part number - LNB6420BB ?

It's not hard to do, If you can find the old (original) switch and not the replacement it is plug and play otherwise you will have to do a connector switch. Other than that its about a half hour to 45 minutes upside down
