Should I go for it? 95 x300 v12

Someone I know wants to get rid of his 95 x300 v12... only wants $1500 for it.
Known Issues:
Power steering leak
Needs rear end bushings
Head gasket may be leaking on the outside, right at the top of the engine
Otherwise the car is in amazing shape, only one ding on the front quarter panel, interior is immaculate (but smells like old man.)
Would you do it? How much could these repairs cost?

I'm guessing $3000+ to replace head gaskets.
Although this is a desirable model the market is very low. You can probably buy a very clean "ready to enjoy" example for $6000. IMHO it hardly makes (financial) sense to buy one with known problems requiring expensive repairs.
From an emotional and enthusiast's standpoint, this is one of Jaguar's flagship models and it would be a cryin' shame to let it end up in a scrapyard. I think the car might be a good buy for an experienced DIYer who can provide his own labor and repair the car relatively inexpensively.
Cheers

I agree with Doug.
As far as I remember only 9 of that model ever made it to OZ (my memory so dont flame me if I am wrong), and 2 were accident write offs in their early days, rare as they came down here.

I passed it up a V12 X330 years ago , sometimes I feel regret but whoever I ask they say my daily ride with 6 cylinders is a better and reasonable choice . OWning a V12 is in a sense owning two cars , almost everything in the engine wise is doubled lol
You sir have NO sense of adventure.
I have had 4 V12's, and down to one now, had that one for 17 years, and still consider myself "sane", although the appreciation of the "medicinal alcohol" has increased slightly, but I put that down to maturity mmmmmm.
I had an XJS V12 for a number of years. I was bit apprehensive about the complexities of the V12 engine but the anxiety wore off quickly after a bit of tinkering and familiarization.
Ironically, the engine itself gave me no problems at all. The rest of the car, though, kept me quite busy for a year or so after purchase :-)
