Default Side view mirror question

I have a 1997 XJ6 VDP that is missing the chrome cover on the right side mirror, My question is can I use the mirror off of a x308 on my car? the reason why I ask is because they are a lot easier to find and cheaper.

Ok I did a google search for x300 mirror back cover and what came up listed the back cover for x300/x308. So I think the covers are at least interchangeable.

According to Jaguar Classic Parts, the part numbers for the whole mirrors are different, but some of the internal parts match, as well as the covers (as you've discovered). See:

Thank you for that post. The matching part #s on the covers was what I needed. I looked for an hour last night and could not find the parts #s. Now I can order the cover off of ebay.

The different complete mirror assembly part numbers are for Standard or Power Fold.

They use the same back cover available in either chrome or primer.

Thank you everyone that replied. I pulled the trigger and ordered a new chrome cover off of Ebay.
