Sovereign gearbox groan
Hi all
I posted earlier about my gearbox whirring sound think I have explained wrong basically when you select drive Park or reverse or neutral it makes a loud hydraulic groaning sound coming from front of gearbox around bell housing area. All mounts are there as far as I'm aware.
It drives fine no slipping when gear changes but do hear a blip of a hydraulic groan when changes 1st to 2nd not as bad as when stationary selecting gear. So it's strange has anyone had this problem I was driving normally was a loud thud under floor well area did not run anything over checked dips tick no sign of metallic particles plenty of fresh fluid also. I my local garage thinks possibly torque converter and says sounds like a spline spinning not gripping but then again no shavings on dip tick. I really don't want to get new gearbox as I heard these should be bulletproof. It's a 1995 sovereign 4.0 aj16 x300
