Default Starting Issues-1997 XJ6

Recently, my car has had issues from time to time with starting. This problem occurs for the most part during cold weather. Last night it gave me the issues and I had to call AAA. We tried to charge the battery but there is no battery issue. The starter does not make any clicks as well. The tow truck driver mentioned that it most likely is the alternator, but I also talked my Dad and he said that it could be the cylinder where I put my key in. I wanted to throw a bone out there and see if I could get some advice on how to diagnose the issue and any possible solutions. Thanks.

Chris,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X300 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Try moving the gear shifter out of park and into neutral I have the same issue now and then I pull the shifter out of park and back into park then it fires right up.

I am going to try that for sure. Right now its doing fine but in the event that situation happens again I will utilize that method. My car has little quirks and issues here and there, and once my school semester is over by June then I am going to dive into the car repairs.
