Starting issues XJ6 3.2 96 Euromodell
I´ve been scratching my head like a madman over my XJ6 the last months....
These are the issues i had.
Wen t on vacation to the US and lost my key and fob....
Got the car towed from the airport tom my home ordered and programmed new keys.
Then the car worked fine.
Sometime later as i´m not using this car at the moment (i drive my XJR during the summer) The car cranked but wouldnt start...
Assuming this was an issue off the immo i tried to programme the keys again. But that didn´t work... Still pretty sure that the problem was due to the immo i changed the SLCM but that didn´t work either.
Suddenly the car started to not crank either... tried a new Body processor but no luck. Yes i had diagnostic tools to set them up.
After looking trough the service manual i found out thta the immo required a signal from the MIL i started looking at the ECM and soon found out that i was missing one of the + feeds.
All fuses that i could find to the ECM is in working order and has power to them....
Starting to scratch my head even more now..
Found a relay in the engine compartment for the ECU. The relay clicked but is missing + feed in. Bu jumping a cable from the fusebox to the output in the relay harnes the car starts.
So now the car works but the problem isn´t realy solved.
Does anyone know where the power has gone ????? any fuses i have missed or any master relays sending power to this one???

The two power sources for that relay are in the RH Engine Bay fuse box. #6, 5A and #11, 20A. From there they go through one of the connectors behind the RH headlamps. They are either oval shaped or rectangular, I don't know what model year you have. Take those apart and you may find some corrosion has caused one or more open circuits.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Ahhh conectors behind the headlamps that sounds like a realy good place to start. Strange i dint se them... Folowed the harnes and it looked like it went trough the firewall... Both fuse are OK and the have power.
So i guess i will look for those conectors. Thanks a bunch

So spot on.
The white rectangular connector looked like ****. And one wire had broken.
Now running a new wire arond the connector and car works fine
Fixed the rest of the cables in the connector
Realy pleased with the car again and realy pleased for the help
