Was a supercharged version of the Vanden Plas ever made?

There was a later Super VDP with basically all the VDP stuff and an XJR engine and chassis.
Review.....$83000!! Hard to believe my little 95 VDP was $62K.

I don't believe there was a factory X300 supercharged VDP from 95-97. Someone could have potentially created one though since the VDP is just all trim and badges.
As mentioned, there was a supercharged V8 VDP in X308 form starting in 98. It was called VDP Supercharged at first, then Super V8 towards the end of the X308 model run. They are somewhat rare, but not unobtanium. I see them pop up every so often, usually with low mileage.

I believe Al is mostly correct. I believe he errs in claiming VDP is all trim and badges. Perhaps not. I have only VDP's, but from photos others have posted, of non-VDP's, vs. visual inspection under the skirts and such of my VDP's, the VDP seems to also include significantly more sound-deadening insulation.
One could create a supercharged VDP by moving the VDP-Specific items from a 1995 Donor VDP to any 95-97 XJR. The donor would need be a '95 because those are the SWB VDP's and the supercharged car was not offered in LWB form during the X300 run.
I've contemplated going the other direction for one of the 96 VDP's; creating a "Super I-6" as it were, in LWB trim. But have concluded it would require a complete donor XJR plus likely a number of other scrap-yard parts, depending on "why" the XJR has become a donor car. The "stuff" you'd need at-a-glance: Engine, CAC, ECM, Gearbox, TCM, Fuel Tank (Possibly could work-around this as provision for mounting the 2nd fuel pump seems resident in NA tanks, but I'm not sure if the ECM alone is enough to effect the proper control of the aux pump) Fuel pump relay. That is not to mention the springs/dampers etc, if you wanted to be truly authentic.
In retrospect, it may be easier to fit a scrapyard supercharger and CAC to the existing NA engine, contact Andy for some ECM magic, and figure out a way to limit the boost to a modest amount.

My 95 SWB VDP is basically getting a slow conversion to XJR suspension spec. For now all I have done is mono strut, rear sway bar and some poly bushings. I put new bilsteins in place and they are too soft. I am not sure why manufacturers are so averse to rebound damping. So will likely end up swapping in the XJR springs and shocks or a good set of aftermarket that doesn't slam the car.
Engine is enough as it sits today....but if I ran across an XJR that had been wrecked I would do the swap. Fat Chance....
Of course a manual swap would really make me happy.....

The parts book shows the same sound insulation for everything. Only difference is for size specific items for SWB/LWB, but no differentiation between VDP and XJ6 variants.

This says Vanden Plas on the back. It's a '95. Everything else though shows it to be an XJR.
