Default Variations on a theme........

It occurred to me that there must not be 2 or more identical jags on the planet, and I'm just talking about the x300 specifically here! Apart from the various changes assorted owners might have made over time, even when these cars rolled off the production line, I wonder how many were identical. Leaving aside paint colour and interior colour combinations, I find it hard to nail down whats what. My x300 Sovereign is descrided in the accompanying paperwork as the "Executive" model. It has the wooden steering wheel and gear knob, the tool kit under the bonnet, electric memory seats with heaters, sun roof, air con and cruise control. It doesn't however, have a traction control on/off switch, sport mode switch, self dimming rear view mirror, cup holders and possibly a few other bits that I dont know about, as I dont have them! So, is there a definitive description of what an x300 executive should or shouldn't have as standard, or are many features ordered or excluded at the dealership?

Does anybody have my cars' mirror image?

Just remembered, it doesn't have headlamp washers either!!

Here in the 'States I think you'd find many identical X300s. The model line-up and options lists were very abbreviated.

We had the XJ6, the VDP, the XJR, and the XJ12. Of those the last three were sold with virtually (perhaps literally) every "option" as standard fitment. The XJ6 was nearly fully equipped with only a few items (traction control, premium stereo, and heated seats come to mind) available optionally.

For quite a long time (in the 80s, mostly) the XJ6 and XJS were sold in the USA with no optional choices at all, other than color, and included as standard nearly everything that was available on the ROW cars.

Cheers
DD

Its almost true there are no two alike, as Jaguars were always built to an order, either for dealer stock or buyer order, but obviously with the US cars coming "fully loaded", only colour (paint and trim) is the variation.
