Default Weak Key Fob for those on a budget :P

Hey all thought I'd share my poor mans solution to a very weak key fob, I used to have to be right next to the car and wave it around to find the sweet spot.

Now I can use it on the other side of the street.

All I did was solder an aerial on to the board :P

Now I'm aware that there is probably a way better way of doing this but I kind of like how stupid it looks now haha. In fact I could have soldered it to the ring around the edge but I figured that might ground the signal so I just did it the stink way :P

I also need to order some aftermarket buttons but this is working for how.

Here's my sweet aerial.

And here is where I soldered it to.

Lol that is very interesting! How did you know where to solder the wire?

Careful, that antenna could create a little tickle while in the pocket.

Of course, that's the obvious way! That is truly, "adorably stupid." The missing buttons adds to its charm too. You could tie it on to your belt loop. No one would ever guess this is a fob for a fancy Jaguar!

Haha yup. My jag us FAR fancier then me :P most of the looks I get are "what the hell is that young messy fellow doing driving a jag?!" Looks of disbelief mostly.

My intention never was to have a fancy car and look fancy haha, these cars are just so much fun to drive. Although I do have a cheese cutter hat I put on when driving sometimes for a laugh.

One Jag fob doesn't work anymore and the other causes the drivers seat to go into recline and I haven't fixed that so I use the key. The key on my BMW convertible has gotten much weaker, so instead of adding an antenna I just hold the key against my chin and the range is like 50 feet..........

Sounds like that fob is triggering the memory seats. They came paired to either memory 1 or memory 2.

If the memory module works in your car then maybe set both 1 and 2 to your preferred setting. Then when it recalls it will recall your set up.

If the memory controls aren't working then I'm not sure :P

Thats a brilliant idea Harry, might try that as a temporary fix until I can find some new key fobs. :-)
