Default Weird Brake Light Issues

I’ve had a bizzare set of issues with my brake lights the past week.

First, both left and right bulbs went out simultaneously. Odd, but after I threw in two new bulbs, everything functioned normally til this evening.

Now, when my headlights are turned off, all brake lights come on, but the right side is dimmer then the left. However, when I turn the headlights on, the right side brake light won’t turn off at all.

Any thoughts? I’m extremely confused.

is the right side working correct?
the brake light is a dual filament bulb yeah?
with one for tail light and one for stop light.
sounds like when you hit the brakes the park light (lower wattage filament) is coming on instead of the stop light (higher wattage filament), and when you turn the headlight on the stop light (higher wattage filament) is coming on instead of the tail light (lower wattage filament).
take the bulb out, rotate it 180 degrees and reinstall it maybe?

sounds like the contacts are reversed and and the wrong signal is activating the wrong filament.

Welp, that was it! I've never heard of a brake light that needed to be installed the right way up before!

yeah thats the thing bout dual filament globes.
they will be operational when connected either way but the wrong function does the wrong thing.
very simple and easy thing and now you know to check for this when installing any dual filament bulbs in future.

recently had this on the forklift at my work after a tech came out and serviced it.
the tech changed the globes and then i noticed after he left he made a boo boo.
quickly fixed it.
