Nice job on the photoshopping of the wheels! I'm an Atari guy in a Play Station world, so something like that is beyond my limited skills, lol!

If I can get a set of wheels on the cheap, in 16", I might go that route, since I just had a new set of 225/60-16 tires mounted on the dimple rims. I'm pretty sure the 5x120 bolt pattern that is common to BMWs will work, it's that center hub opening that's the main limiting factor. I might save my pennies until after I drive my Saab cross-country though, that's a higher priority right now.

Well, that and getting a new shift knob (plain black leather for $20, or a piano black wood one with custom emblem for $90?), lol...

Wow, me likee! The 5-spokes in the top pic are from an IROC Camaro, 16x8, with zero offset. I think the BMW wheels are 16x8, with a +20mm offset, so they won't stick out as far. I'm liking how those 5-spokes look, but my main concern would be that with the 0 offset, they'd stick too far out, and would hit the bottom of the fenders. I could probably get those IROC wheels for $100, so it might be worth the experiment.

Not only that, they are running perhaps 50 series rubber instead of rubber bands. Better ride.

Nope. And 16 inch wheels + 50 series rubber are just right. The 18 inch + 40 series are so harsh.

Then there was the used car dealer who had Jaguar asteroids on a BMW 3 series. Looked great.

Not such great photoshopper. :) Maybe I should re-do... I was trying to find a bigger 'model' car image taken at a convenient angle (so that I didn't have to apply perspective effects to the wheels ), and with the car painted at least some roughly similar colour to the OP's car. But they were all small like the above.

The IROC wheels look a little trailer park to me. Just not diggin it. Maybe on an S-10 pickup.

Yeah, I'm not 100 percent sold on those either. Only reason I bookmarked them was they have the exact same bolt pattern, in 16", so I can easily swap my brand new tires over. I don't really like the Jag dimple wheels because they full like a dish. I like wheels that are more open, like the IROC wheels and the one set of BMW wheels that have 7 spokes (not the vanes).

Saw in your sig you've got a '71 MGB waiting for a 5.0 install?! Can you say "YEEEEEHHAAAHHHHHHH"! I bet the frame and suspension will have to get beefed up for that swap, but should be a hoot to drive. And with some super quiet mufflers, you can go picking off 'Vettes, 350Z's, 'Stangs, etc.!

Jaguar spend umpteen million £ or $ to produce the perfect car and then you want to change it. At the same time, everybody says that they want their car to be as close to the original as can be.
My head hurts . lol.

Good education for the colonials. From past threads it seems everyone wants the trim that was *not* standard for their own markets.

You can leave everything else stock, maybe beef up the brakes a little. But, like any car, there are mods, and products to help keep the rubber to the road. There's a nice 4-link system for the rear that I'd like, and a new front cross member, but the front setup (full suspension and engine cradle is over $3k) is a bit over the top.

I'll do the upgrades one at a time once I get the car going. That's what winters are for. I'll do the rear first, since I'm sure I'll destroy it before too long. Most opt for a chevy bolt pattern, so maybe I'll use a Jag wheel on it - keep it British.

When I was looking to sell the non-Jag wheels that came on my 97 VDP, I found this website to be of use:

First you find the details on your bolt pattern.
Then you look up the bolt pattern for another vehicle, and compare.
In addition to bolt pattern, it also shows lug size, center hole size, and offset.

In my case, I wanted my ad to list all other vehicles that could potentially use my wheels. It was a bit painful, but I went through all the other vehicle brands on the site and came up with this list:

The 5x120.7 bolt pattern is used on:

BMW – All models and years with 5 lug nuts.

SOME models/years of the following:
Buick – Le Sabre, Riviera, Roadmaster, Estate Wagon
Cadillac – Eldorado, Fleetwood, Seville
Chevrolet – Camaro, Corvette, and many older mid and full size
Dodge – Cyclone, Typhoon, El Camino, Caballero
Ford – Sonoma, S-10, S-15 Blazer, Jimmy
Isuzu – Hombre
Jaguar – XJ, XK
Oldsmobile – Toronado, Bravada, and many old mid and full size

For the listing of SOME models/years, you’d need to use the site to pick them out. The list above considers only the bolt pattern, not the center hole or the offset, but I figured that a buyer could check that in the charts for his own vehicle.

Perhaps this will be useful to someone else.

BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front, it's a military thing): when looking at different wheels for my '96 XJ6, Chevy and BMW wheels seem to be the 95 percent solution, with add'l filters of center hub opening and offset...

GBMTKJ - the cars listed after your Dodge and Ford headers are all Chevy/GMC products...
