Default where can i get oem springs???

hey everyone,

I need to get a new pair of XJR springs front and rear. does anyone know where to get them? ive looked online quite a bit. ive managed to find springs from KYB but they seem to have the same springs listed for the XJR as they do the XJ6. i thought the XJR had different springs than the XJ6. Please correct me if im wrong! also has anyone used the KYB's before and had good results? Any input would be appriciated.

Thanks,

John

I presume you've tried buying them from Jaguar and found they're NLA---No Longer Available?

XJR springs were unique, yes, versus standard XJ6

I have no experience with KYB springs but you're right to be skeptical. Aftermarket suppliers often over-condense their offerings into a "one part number works on all" type of thing. You'd probably end up with a too-soft spring.

Cheers

I strongly recommend trying these guys, EuroJag, The Premier Jaguar Parts Supplier. I used to live down the road from them and apart from being able to supply most new and used parts for older jags, they're very knowlagable about the older jags too. I always received top service and pricing was very good too. Plus they ship worldwide on a daily basis.

thanks for the input!

Doug: thats exactly what what happened. the springs are no longer available.

that leaves me with 2 options:

1) H&R sport springs which are progressive rate. they seem nice but they drop the front and back 1.5 ins which seems quite a bit. the wheel gap isnt bad stock, but a little drop would hurt(i actually have an XJ6, not XJR, but i wanted to upgrade to a stiffer suspension). the XJR was a little lower that the 6 so i thought that would be perfect ride height. I think with the H&R's the ride will be too low.

2) KYB's, technically kyb europe, which i found on rockauto.com which are listed for the xjr and xj6. im very skeptical of these though.

I was going to pair these with new bilstein b6s. the oem ones for the XJR.

BTW, what do you guys use for springs?? i have the stock ones but i thought they would be worn by now. the car has 150000 mi now. Any advice would be great!!

thanks

It would be worth giving them a call, they generally have a lot more stuff than their website shows.

You could also try for Springs from a X300 3.2 or 4.0 Sport as both of these had (as far as I know) the same setup as the XJR but without the supercharger. Mine is a Sport and definately sits a little lower than a straight X300 XJ6 as well as having a much 'sportier' ride.
