Evening all
Have had the annoying rattle noise at start up for ages now and can also hear it when pulling away especially after spirited driving. The part I ordered was NBC2031AAG. I was also advised to remove cam cover at the same time to make sure the old piston of the tensioner doesn't drop down into the front of the engine so I have that.
My questions are:
1) The new tensioner didn't come with bolts so I assume I reuse what I have?
2) Do I use any RTV or anything on cam cover gasket when refitting this? I am experienced with BMW engines and on those you only use RTV on a few parts of the cam cover gasket (M50/52/54) hence my question
Many thanks
Sam.

Bolts are different length
Cam cover should be soft and the back edge with the D extrusion may need some hi temp formagasket in the corner of the D's depending on the quality of the factory molding

Do not drop tensioner , ask me how know
You can crack it and not notice it on installation

15W or 20W- 40/50 oils should reduce chain rattle at cold start. Oil thats "thicker" when it cools off will more readily stay in the tensioner body over time.
Chain rattle is common. It sounds terrible but is generally harmless. New tensioner plus appropriate oil should reduce it.
