Default X300 ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Data - Help?

Folks,

I'm trying to cross-reference my Daimler X300 ABS sensors in the following terms:

- Analogue / Digital output (sinusoidal vs. square wave)
- Impedance

Anyone has this info or knows where to get it from? ATE proved to be a load of useless.

Thanks in advance ..

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X300 forum.

I have absolutely no idea what you are asking but members here with the same model should be able to help.

An Analogue ( non digital ) sinusoidal wave looks like a smooth roller coaster up and down and a square wave is chopped stepping stone( s ) up and down as a digital or in some cases analogue signal .

Impedance is the resistance of a non constant signal through a devise that is dependent on the signals frequency .

What are you trying to do ?

Hi,

Thanks for the layman definitions .. couldn't have done a better job myself

I'm trying to figure out whether these are passive or biased sensors, as well as their impedance - bit lazy to take the measurements myself, so prepping.

What I am trying to do: Jag's replacement sensors for the X300 are an outright rip off at over £200 inclusive of the government extortion known as VAT. The X308 sensors are less just under 20% of that, at around £35.00

I'm trying to fit the X308 sensors on my X300 Daimler Double Six hubs.

Thanks,

Ahmed.

I faintly remember reading lefts don't work on rights and vice versa as the direction of rotation . And somewhere mid X300 production they changed part numbers . The sensors can be read through the ABS connector and will read about 1300 ohms as a basic analogue resistance reading but it doesn't mean they are good as they function in a impedance sense . Think stereo speaker impedance as it changes from low to high depending on high or low frequency , they are marked as a average impedance which is a different value of resistance if you read with a common constant signal multimeter . Each 4 sets of wires are grouped as colors on the pic . If you get a fault it won't clear until you reach 12.5 MPH . Clean and refresh the sensor face as it clouds over with debris messing up the signal . Do you have a suggestion on how to get a broken one out . I Nailed it . If you were to do the C1095 fault repair a hole saw will work without as big a mess .

Hi Ahmed,

Lady P has already offered some excellent info but in order to offer the most helpful replies it may help if you tell us:

1. The model year of your X300;

2. The symptoms that have prompted you to feel you need to replace one or more wheel speed sensors. For example, is your ABS warning lamp illuminated? Do you have any diagnostic trouble codes flagged?

Cheers,

Don

Ref. Teves MK20 documents looks to be inductive sensors like the crankshaft sensor . MK20 used on 1996 – 2002, models 850, V70, C70, S60, S70, S80 and BMWs . AC Voltage common simple meter test :

With the meter set to AC voltage, spin the wheel by hand. The sensor should produce between .5 to 1 volt of AC current. The faster the wheel is spun, the more voltage is produced.
