X300 centre Armrest with Cupholders
Hi everyone, I hope that there is someone out there that can help me in my quest to buy a Jaguar X300 Centre Armrest with cup holders colour Cream Code NDR. I want this in good working order and in good condition. I have tried ebay but my search goes on. I am willing to pay a fare price for a good one.
Also, can anyone confirm if the armrest of the X300 and X308 are compatible with each other?
I await your reply with hopefully good news.
Regards,
Andy

You will have a hard time finding a good armrest, I think. The cupholder is repairable and the armrest can be refinished. There is a lot of information in the forums if you do a search.

I also have the ndr trim and, after patiently searching for a few months here and there, I found that the best thing to do for me was to buy the arm rest without the cup holder option...I think the one I bought came from a x308. I then bought the magnetic catch from another retail shop online for less than 5 bucks if I recall. Waaaaaaaay cheaper and it looks better in my opinion. I don't think the cupholder would do its job even if it wasn't broken anyhow.

They look like they're shaped slightly differently - but it may be as simple as reusing the X300 hardware for proper fitment.
I can't find anything on the web showing anyone else succeeding (or failing, for that matter). Looks like we need a guinea pig to try it out!

Physically the length & width dimensions of the X300 & X308 armrest are the same, but the hinge & latch mechanism are different. The problem is with the cupholder. The height of the X308 armrest is slightly thinner and the 'holder base' protrudes beneath into the area where the ashtray is located on the X300. If you remove the ashtray, then the armrest will physically fit, but you'd have no trim where the ashtray was. So while a swap is technically possible, I wouldn't suggest it, unless you're capable of some trim work.
For future searchers who might want to try anyway, for mounting, you have to use the hinge & latch hardware native to the armrest you choose, not that which is native to the transplant vehicle. The X300 uses a 3 screw hinge & the X308 uses a 2 screw hinge. So to use the X308 hinge, drilling 2 new holes is required (no big deal since the hinge mount on the console is metal). The X308 latch receiver is a straight swap, no drilling necessary.
Here are pics of both consoles to give a better idea of what described above. If you pay attention to the cupholder area differences, the issue described should be clear.

well I don't want a stainless steel Turkish cup holder..
I don't need one
I have a perfectly good centre arm rest, and a perfectly good cupholder - I put my large coke in the door card pocket, where I already have a clean cloth for emergencies (bleeding crash victims, children's blood noses, fogged windscreens) - the balled-up cloth stops the coke tipping over, perfect solution.
PS: I needed the cloth on Saturday - my son bled his nose all over the passenger seat belt and his clothes, hard to clean off the seatbelt...

My cupholder armrest was moved from my 1996 X300 to 2000 X308 and then to 2001 XK8.
The only difference was the catch assembly. Magnetic on the plain armrest and plastic on the cupholder. The catches are interchangeable in the console without any modification.
