Default X300 Cup Holder alternative mod.

Hi all
Im probably not the first to do this mod, but given the cup holders in the armrest are scarce and, from what I read on her, not too good and the fact the last one I saw was broken and selling at over a hundred quid I came up with an alternative.

The donor cups came from a BMW and the rest came from my old Samsonite briefcase 😂

Nothing on the jacket was butchered, so it is completely reversible.

Arm rest sits flush as it should…

Pair of cup holders

Smart! I sure like the one piece door. Hopefully you can drive normally without always having a hand on the cup (while in its original holder) like we have trained ourselves to do. Will braking be a problem?

I like the cup holders normally hidden. But I don't like the X351 "accordion" doors.

I fixed mine with a URO part, but they still pop open over bumps and I might just ditch them for a plain lid like yours.

I fixed mine with the original parts and not the TSB kit

If you take a small bamboo rod that has some vegetable on it as a release agent you can place it were the pivot point is

Using JB - Weld and some sawing threads to add strength you can build the pivot points back up

Remove the bamboo rod before full curing and the JG - Weld can be sanded down after it fully cures

The pivot hole has to be drilled up a size for the original size swinging section post

Back aft of the pivot point near the slowdown round dampener it was cracked back there also

Same application of JB - Weld with some threads to give it tensile strength

The build up of adhesive can't be too thick in this second area as it interferes with the monkey works clearance

That sounds very useful, however my car never had one to fix. It was an addition I was looking at doing but this is a simple and very cheap method.
£20 all in 👍🏼
