X300 Lights problem
Hi all, I am Kevin from the UK, am new to the forum and would really appreciate some help.
My 1996 x300 xjr has developed a strange fault - upon parking the car and turning off the lights and ignition, the sidelights and rear lights stay on!
Nowwhen iremove thekeys the dash lights do go out and the warning buzzer stops.
Multiple attempts at switching lights and engine on and off have no effect - the side and rear lights stay on. Here is the really weird part.....if I get out and keep slammimg the doors shut they flicker off.....but it can take a lot of slamming before they stay off ! It's driving me nuts...it used to be ocassionally but it is becoming more and more frequent.
I was thinking maybe a sticking relay? Are the side and rear lights operated via a relay?
Has anyone elsehad this problem.....theres a few pints in it for anyone who can help
Update....I have since found out that if I just leave them on, they turn themselves off after 10 minutes. I waited and I definately heard a 'click' as they went off coming I think from the boot. When I can I will wait with the boot open and the fuse box cover off and see if I can hear exactly what 'clicks'....It has to be a relay..........

Hiya mate,
This sounds like a sentinal light (or something similar)
My Jeep does this, it's leaves the lights on so you can see your way to the front door if you live somewhere that's totally dark etc etc.
On my car if you turn the engine off BEFORE the lights they stay on for a while.
If you turn the lights off BEFORE the car they go out.
Hope this helps......
