The centre section of my X300 exhaust with the two underfloor cats is on its last legs. There is a someone nearby to me who is selling the centre section of an XJ40 exhaust, this has a single silencer instead of the cats, with the exhaust dividing in to two from there on.

The overall profile of this XJ40 centre section looks very similar to the profile of the exhaust section on the X300, but would let me lose the underfloor cats....

Putting aside questions of emissions, MOT tests etc.... Is it likely to fit my car?

Anyone got experience of swapping exhaust components between the two models?

I bought two over axle pipes from an XJ40 for my x300 thinking they looked the same but the pipe was slightly smaller diameter and shorter where they meet the underfloor section. This would suggest that you may need to modify the XJ40 centre section slightly. Alternatively you could buy my XJ40 over axle pipes to go with it! I ended up just reparing my original over axle units.
