I have a 1997 XJ6. Looking for some leads to getting a new ignition blank, remote Fob, cutting, and having it/them programmed. I am in the greater NW, Whatcom county, Washington state. I have the valet key and an ignition key. I believe 95-97's were all transponder keys..correct? Bought a set of Ilco TBE1P blanks, but further reading doesn't confirm these as transponder keys. Any info on programming acquiring and programming the correct keys? I am a DIYer, but will pay to have it done correctly if something I can't do myself (regarding the programming). Any helpful leads appreciated.

 

The USA-market X300s did not use transponder keys

Well that's good to know, surely I have a US market car! So my Tibbe key blanks should work. Thank you.

 

I got a backup set made a company in Australia - they have an eBay Buy It Now item for this. Took a couple of pictures of the key and had a regular and valet key made of the photos. Worked great. No transponder key (1996 XJR California model)

Yes.

I can't exactly remember what it does, though. Never used it :-)
