XJ6 diagnostics
Two new threads in one evening ...!
My next question concerns diagnostics. My car is originally from the UK (RHD) and has an OBD style port drivers side to left under dash. Its from 1994.
My most basic of code readers connects to this and when I tried a test removing the MAF plug it showed MIL on and a generic code which reset okay (strangely the check engine light on dash didn't come on despite lighting up during starting). When I tried to look at live data it started reading PID's but gave up and returned to menu. Using a more expensive tablet scanner that I have, Autel Maxisys Pro, this doesn't read the VIN and shows only a few live data points.
Obviously the car predates mandatory OBDII regs. Is there a good aftermarket scanner that will really drill down into this cars modules beyond the few data PID's available to OBDII and later scan tools?
Thankee

I use this one on my 96 XJR6
it was about £100 but works very nicely. It doesn't read the VIN but when you enter it manual it decoded an error code correctly and can read live data. It shows you what options are support and let's you choose which to monitor.
