hi everyone,just a quick bit of info needed.
on our 97 xj6 we have colour matched grill inserts,car is red (carnival red met) and the grill is chrome,with red inserts is this the norm on these models.
wife likes the red,me got to be chrome all in.

any info would be much appreciated

Mark, IIRC some 'XJ sport's did come like that... but if you want a full chrome one, I've got one spare and local!

edit: just noticed your sig says XJ8 & your post says XJ6...?

 

Yeah, XJ-Sport models had the painted grill inserts by default, but I'm sure they would have been an option and some buyers could have chosen them for other X300 models.

Bear in mind that the chrome inserts aren't actually metal.

 

have now updated profile with pic of latest one,now have a xj6 on good miles 106k,but the old car has been standing still in its past, and its not been kind to it.
still runs ok but bad rust on calipers,and wishbones,trackrod ends,etc but did get 12 months ticket in july at a jag dealers in harrogate.

 

i think its the classic one,but does look odd being red.

What about having the chrome also red? perhaps that makes it much more modern? Ive seen X300/X308's with colored casing, tbh looks really good in my opinion.
