Xj6 water pump replacement

Xj6 water pump replacement
Got my car back from the shop and they have determined I need a new water pump. Apparently that was what has been causing the squealing these past few months. Either a loose bearing or something.
1) Should I buy a whole new pump or get it fixed, if possible.
2) If I buy a new pump, how can I install it?.. since the shops are charging a lot to replace it. I ain't rich, got the car used real cheap and its just been falling apart, or so it seems.
3) Where can I find an auto repair manual for my Jag?

Regarding XJ R water Pump replacement . The replacement pumps are no longer a "flush surface mount" They come with a raised 1/4" lip. For me this is a problem since the new pump seems to be a press fit and the existing bolts are not long enough to attach two of five to pull the new pump in place . I believe the bolts are 6mm Fine thread and need to get a couple 60mm lngth to pull pump in

On your 2001 XJR? With a V8?
Post in the "X308" section. This section is for loyalists and traditionalists having the old straight-6 cars :-)

Are you still out there, Zachary? Sorry this is a bit late. I missed it earlier.
Sometimes you can find a water pump rebuilder locally but not every town has one by any means. Most buy a replacement pump from a Jag vendor (I just bought one from Coventry West) or online seller. Prices range from about $120 for a brand-x rebuilt to abut $600 for a new pump in a Jaguar box
As for installation....I'm not sure of your experience level. If you've installed a water pump on any other car you can certainly replace the pump on your Jag. If not, you might want a more experienced helper looking over your shoulder.
Cheers
