@peterlonz

Man what are you talking about? It was very readily obvious in the thread that BIP is Buckhead Import Performance. It's linked a bunch of times.

And Whipple is a US manufacturer of twin screw positive displacement superchargers, with the 2.9 indicating the displacement of the unit in liters. As a 3 second google search would have indicated. And 700 hp out of a forced induction 4 liter DOHC V8 is fairly common, if not easy, and certainly believeable for a road car, at least in America. I personally have two friends that have road driven cars that make 800+ hp at the wheels (so around 950-1000 at the crank), one with a 4.6L DOHC V8 (2004 Mustang Cobra, stock longblock and a single turbo conversion) and one with a 5.3 L V8 (02 Camaro, mildly built GM LM7 engine with a custom single turbo setup). The guy with the Cobra was making 800 crank hp with his former Whipple setup. So yes, it's completely possible. BIP is just treading new ground with the Jag V8, since there hasn't been much serious aftermarket development on the engine.

You can question BIPs timeframe (this project has been going on a long time), but it looks like they are doing quality work, and breaking new ground always takes time. But you can't argue that what they're doing isn't feasible with enough time and money.

@Thundercat

Very sorry to hear that man. How bad is it? Are the bigger custom components salvageable enough to put on another engine?

Brutal,
Acknowledge your advice.
It does seem though to be fair that your vehicle mods are the subject of what most regular folks would consider extreme.
Now I guess this is the subject of great pleasure to you & I suspect that money is not a controlling factor. I have no problem with that, good on you.
I merely wished to make the point that we have no knowledge whatever of the objective of the described BIP mods on this particular Jag.
The cost although not stated has been estimated here by others & you would have to say by ordinary standards for a road car that this cost is outlandish.
It's been suggested also that I should use Google in conjunction with this forum. Well there are I think now 7 pages of messages here & I have no intention of using Google except when I wish to.
BIP started this post & apparently expect members to use Facebook also.
They have provided nothing in the way of information presentation that looks even remotely professional. Hence the ongoing Q & A session & clearly the very different member expectations of cars.
BTW no disrespect to BIP intended.
Will anyone please speculate on the durability of a jag engine with similar mods producing 165 hp/litre when used principally as a road car?

lol well thats my "normal"
with good rods and pistons(cp pistons, and pauhter rods, they do custom, just send stockers for correct dimensions) theres nothing weak about the engine. A bed plate over main caps is a much better and stronger block too.

At this point, the question would have to be "So what?" With enough time and money, creation of an V-8 internal combustion engine is not much of a challenge. This project seems to have gotten out of hand if the objective is to make a kit that a XJR owner would want to apply to his car. But BIP is a site sponser, so let 'em show what they can do!

What have you done or can you do for the AJ159S 4.2 liter supercharged engine found in the3 2005 XKR? I have the Siemens supercharger. The heads are ported and polished. I did a 6% increase pulley speed and larger intercooler plus the ECU rewrite, etc. but am not quite 500 horsepower.
How did you get 700? Is that the 5.0 liter or 5.3 liter engine? If I throw my crap out or sell it, how much do you charge to do your thing, subject to my ZF6 speed handling it, etc. ? By that I mean a SWAG number, like 5 grand, 8 grand, whatever. Thanks.

with a built based on the photo's so far I'll bet $25,000 for the engine another $15,000 for other systems, parts
It's a case of if you have to ask you can't afford it. JMHO

Water Dragon- I am just not feeling the warm fuzzies from you. I like your abrupt and direct, yea , even ruddy or bloody rudeness to try to get them to spill the beans that could give us a clue, but so far in the thread I can tell that they are not willing to, and most in that club are not willing to because they cannot. So, while my panties will not be in a wad as you say (although the visual is one I can do without), I will take no further action with this group and approach until I can see the kind of data you suggest we need to proceed. Thanks for your efforts to get them to talk, but they must be bucking for the House of Lords. Well, back to me scones.....

Roger77- One of the things my father told me is it is pretty hard to count another man's money. I am not insulted, but asking about an estimate will help quantify in my mind relative value and credibility of the source, two factors you may not have considered. For your info, though, I can easily aford it. I do not want to spend it foolishly and to me, comparative pricing is a good idea. But, if I can buy an F-Type (they will be allotted here in the US) I may sell my hopped up XKR anyway to use as part of the funds to buy it, since I don't like car loans and only have a 2 car garage, and here in wisconsin in the winter 2 sports cars would not be good.
