Thanks. Sales have gone pretty well. The Camaro, XJ8 project car, XJR parts car, Jaguar Specialties kit, driveshaft, computer reflash and miscellaneous parts total $17353. Parts sold $12551. Still have to do exhaust and headliner. When all done and rest of parts sold hope to have $4000 in.

Many thanks for the offers of transmissions etc.

I managed to locate a local 2000 with 68,xxx miles for $600. I will go with this. Should be here tomorrow.

I also have numerous other parts timing chain kit, water pump, various seals etc

plan is to install the used transmission and address any engine running issues then move onto timing chains etc,

once again many thanks for the encouragement and support. Will get this beast back on the road!

Stuizzy, did you post a pic of your XJR in any of the other threads? If so, where and if not, post it here. I don’t care (to me at least) if it’s not a show car or in rough shape. Your bringing it back to life and that’s what counts.

That’s a great price especially for those miles. Good luck with the repairs.

Yours sounds like it might just be a dead second pump.

Nice to see someone else from the area. I live in Kingston, work in Albany and go to Clifton Park here and there to meet with a vendor.
I'm pretty sure it won't be that.

When I got my XJR the secondary pump was dead, but it revved out fine. Although there was noticeably more power with enough fuel being delivered after it was fixed.

Easy to check the pumps at least. Pull the relays in the boot & bridge the large contacts, you'll hear the pump spin up in the tank if it's working. I can't recall if I needed the ignition on for the test, stick a volt meter on first to confirm either way.

I had done what Hooli suggest and both pumps are running and delivering fuel. I read somewhere if the ECU detects a transmission fault it limits the revs to 3000, may be that. Will know with the new transmission

Addicted2boot requested a pic of the car - here it is - paint in rough shape (to say the least)

BRG is a very good color. I hope that the car turns out running and driving well for you.

Restricted performance warnings do the same & the car also limits the revs like that in neutral I believe. So you could well be on the right track. I'd expect a warning light & message from an error that'd trigger that condition in the ECU though.

After a few months work off and on I have the care driving again

Used transmission installed
All new coolant hoses
All new tensioners chains and guides
etc
etc

Car runs and drives. When the last tranmission failed I got a P0730 error (incorrect gear ratio) This has not cleared with the new transmission. I have driven the car a few miles, transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears. Tried to clear the error but it wont go away. I am guessing I need to give the car a decent drive to clear the DTC. Just concerned about potemtial damage.
