Default 1998 xjr x 308

Hi all,

I am hoping to get some sort direction as to what to look for as I a problem with my Jag. Well two to be exact as I am think its two anyhow maybe some of you will correct me.

1998 XJR X 308, JUST TURNED 90000 MILES. RHD.

I scanned it with a obeII and showed no faults !!

1st Fault = The other day I stop at the traffic lights, while waiting for lights to change suddenly its displayed GEARBOX FAULT and a amber light showed as I pulled away, she held onto gear.
I pulled in and when I re started all was fine for another 10 minutes and then I had loss in power. It was like it was in home mode, crawl. again stopped and restarted and has been fine ever since as to that fault.

2nd Fault, while driving down the motorway at say 70 mph she suddenly felt as if she had cut out, but no lights on dash or anything !! and then a sec later back to life again and was fine for the balance of the 45 mile trip.
Once in the town came up to lights just as i stopped it showed on the display, "ENGINE STALL" tried to restart fired up straight away and then just died, did this 3 times and then start and has been fine ever since.

Currently driving fine, but the gearbox fault and holding 1 st gear was a concern!!

Cutting out while driving and engine stall scared when I stopped the life out of me.

As there is faults on the obeII scanner nor one at Jag dealer what could this be.

Anybody had any of these issues and if so would you like to share or give me the answer to these faults.

Gearbox is at max on fluid

Looing forward to you advice.

Jack

Jack, not sure about the gearbox fault, but the throttle issue is a known thing. There was a recall from Jaguar about this, but I think that expired last year.

Post your issues in the XJ8 forum for more input.
