1999 Vanden Plas Resets After Battery Replacement
Hello Jag Nation,
I just completed my first battery replacement on my 1999 Vanden Plas. Can anyone provide or direct me to information on all required resets, etc, after battery replacement. Also, are there any Jag idiosyncrasies I need to be aware of?
Thanks for your considerations

You should retain the pre-sets of the radio, but you will need to re-set the bass/treble settings for the radio, cassette & CD player (they each have to be set individually).
The seat/mirrors/steering wheel memory settings will be lost and have to be reset.
As per neurojags' list, the clock will need to be re-set.

On my 1999 Daimler Super V8, I often disconnect the battery, sometimes for longer than 2 weeks. All I have to do is key in the radio code again and set the radio stations/functions. Memories for the seat, steering and mirror positions are not lost.

No radio code needed (US). Windows, seats, mirrors, steering wheel presets lost when I replaced my battery. 03 XJ8 Sport.
I'll be doing a hard reset this weekend to fix my fuel trims and plan on resetting the above as well as the pedal position for kickdown travel.

Remember to vent to outside! I have seen some corrosion in the trunk on some of the stuff under the carpet it must’ve been from the gas is trapped inside the trunk... make sure that little hose is hooked up

AGM batteries don't vent during normal operation. Only if overcharged. One more reason to go AGM.
The battery in my Bonneville was under the back seat. No vent tube.

The stock battery is a flooded wet cell that needs to be vented. Upgrading to an AGM is well worth it as they handle a deeper discharge much better. With all the electrical glitches these cars have from batteries not being up to par, I figured it was a good idea even tho my flooded interstate is still 100%.
The Platinum is one beast of a battery @ $200+. 1050CA, 900CCA, 180 reserve capacity, 95 amp hours
Most AGMs I've ever seen don't have a vent. The Die Hard Platinum I replaced the wet cell in the Jag with DID have one. Probably because of what it's replacing? Idk. But since it had one and the hose was there, I hooked it up. No reason not too. If it didn't have one, I wouldn't worry about it tho.
