1999 XJ8 rear view mirror aftermarket upgrade
I bought nice **** 36200 rear mirror with auto dimming&compass (just $160 on one popular site) instead of my broken one at 1999 XJ8.
Trying to properly connect it.
Pinouts:
1. **** 36200 (Donelly 015603)
It turns out to be Donelly 015603, it has the same set of sensors as Jag's OEM one. It has same set of sensors as OEM one + rain sensors (?)
It has 7 pins connector, I already contacted **** asking them to provide me with pinout (there is no available). But, turns out they do supply this mirror as OEM for some other cars, so I found this :
(I guess it's from '03 Nissan Xterra's repair manual or something)
2. Donelly 011530 - original one
Have no idea about it's pinout, but from Jag's repair manual it looks like it has:
- ground (for sure!)
- reverse lamps
- headlamps (?)
- 2 exterior mirrors dimming outputs
I probably not reading the diagram properly, cause I dont see here a power line.
So:
1. Is it possible to integrate this aftermarket mirror as original one (auto headlights?)
2. Any hints on pinouts or how to find out them?

PIN 1 = PINK = POWER = +12 volts*
PIN 2 = BLACK = CHASSIS, GROUND*
PIN 3 = LIGHT GREEN = BACKUP LIGHTS*
If not using the backup feature, connect this to ground otherwise auto dim will not function properly.
PIN 4 = GRAY = TO AUTO DIM OUTSIDE MIRROR
PIN 5 = PINK = TO AUTO DIM OUTSIDE MIRROR
PIN 6 = DARK GREEN/WHITE = TEMP SENSOR**
PIN 7 = BLACK/WHITE = TEMP SENSOR**16 pin: (*required; **required if you have a temp display) ------- If your colors are different, then you'll have to figure it out by the pin number!

Seems like a nice challenge/project to tinker with. But there IS a sure solution.
My VDP came with half the mirror full of black goo. I looked at many options, and decided that "stock is still stock", so I shipped it off to Sybesma's, and for half the money any aftermarket one would cost, I have my original mirror (working as intended), in the perfect working order.
My reasoning: Jags are known to be "electrically sensitive". Hooking up something that is not stock, might (might not!) cause all kinds of electrical gremlins to pop up. Cheap, stock, quality........Sybesma's.
