I just posted about rebuilding my engine--header milling issues...

Taking apart the engine, the water-pump was crap. It looks like someone tried a coolant-leak issue with some copper stuff. It was all throughout the engine as I replaced the head-gaskets.

Anyhow, when I (hopefully) get to the point of refilling all new coolant, I've heard the engine comes with DexCool, but i've heard of the DexCool lawsuit blah blah... it ruins gaskets... etc, etc..

I'm replacing pretty much every hose for the cooling system, so I'd like to know people's opinion on what type of coolant i should use for this engine?

My V6 3.4L Impala said DexCool and I flushed it and used normal coolant when I refilled it--the only difference i noticed is the temp is just a tad over-center. But I can't say its from the new coolant...

What could go wrong with normal green coolant with this engine? Its a nice engine and all, but coolant can't have that much of an affect, right??

 

Jaguar service departments are still putting DexCool (orange) into the cars. Personally, I do not think it matters much as long as the OAT and HOAT are not mixed. See Wikipedia for further discussion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antifreeze
