Default 1999 XJR tensioner

I'm looking at getting a 1999 XJR but not sure if the tensioner has been done. Is there a way of testing without pulling the engine apart?

Will the service book indicate that the tensioner has been done?

Is there a jaguar service manual that I can download which shows how to change the upper and lower tensioners?

The best tutorial I have seen is on the XK8/R forum FAQ Sticky under 'Tensioners'.
