If you are not installing another amp, it is easy to use the stock speaker wiring with your new HU.
The speaker outputs of the HU (Jag) are in the white plug that plugs into the HU, this loom terminates in another similar white plug behind the L/H heel board just in front of the rear seat. Also behind that panel is another white connector pair, one goes to the amp outputs and the other to the speakers.
Unplug the speaker loom and plug it into the loom from the HU, now all you need to do is adapt the white connector in the radio compartment to your new HU.
Hope this helps.

Forgot to mention the front tweeters, in the standard system they are in the front door handles (connected to main door speakers via a cap.), in the premium system they are in the "A" pillars and driven direct from the amp.
To use the "A" pillar tweeters you will need to connect them to the front L and R main speakers via a crossover. This should be easy enough to do at the connector behind the heel board. A simple series cap. would be sufficient. You could also add tweeters in the front door handles and wire as original. (They might still be in the premium cars, just not wired)

Sorry, I wasn't very clear about that connector, it is the white 12 way connector that is currently pluged into your HU, it is next to the Ai-Net connector.
In the Standard system it supplies Power to the HU and drive signal to the speakers.
In the Premium system it only supplies power to the HU, but the speaker wires should be in place in the connector.
It is shown as IC10 on the wiring diagrams.
Sorry for the confusion.

Now I'm really confused. The IC10 connector only has 4 wires. 2 are contant 12v, one is gound, and the other is 12v when ignition is on. The other connector in back of the h/u is for the misc. items (steering wheel, antenea, etc.) I've got to think the cable is carrying the speaker signals.

OK, If the IC10 connector plugged into your HU has only four wires, (the connector should then have eight spare pins) then the speaker loom has not been fitted to your car. The speaker wires, when fitted, are definatly in IC10.
Very strange, as I have seen other premium systems where the loom is present, I just assumed all cars are all the same, it would appear not.
Did you check the physical connector in the car, or look at the wiring diagrams?
The speaker loom in IC10 is not shown on the premium wiring diagram, only in the standard audio diagrams.

It appears the sound signal is carried via the ai-net cable. The cable runs from the h/u to the amp. The amp then has tradtional wiring going out to the speakers. I can however pick up the speaker wires at the connector in the left heel board. This will definitely reduce install time and wire.

It's a shame your car does not have the speaker wires in IC10.
It would have saved you a lot of work.

No sound from radio; cd works fine
I get no sound from the radio, but the CD plays just fine.
The radio tuner seems to be working. It finds stations and shows the station info and all, but no sound. With the volume all the way up there's just the tiniest bit of white noise from the amp, so it seems that the amp is responding to the volume control. It's a 2000 XJR with the Alpine system with Nav and the changer in the trunk. Do I need to check the AI-Net cable or what? There's a connector with a bunch of wires on the back of the head unit and a round ai-net? cable as well. I was of the impression (from what I've been able to gather reading through this forum) that the audio signal travels on the ai-net cable to the CD player then from there to the amp. Is that right? I'm not sure how to check to see if the head unit is producing any output. What is the best way to trouble-shoot this? Once I get the radio working I was going to consider the aux in mod that this thread introduces.
