2001 XJ8 runs rough
Check engine light is on and car runs rough. 246,000 km or 150,000 miles on the car. Don't know history of maintenance. Could it be timing chain tensioners?

Yes it could. Remove the right cam cover and inspect. It could also be several other possibilities, so reading the codes and displaying here would be helpful.
