Hi Everyone,

I am purchasing a 2002 XJ Sport and wondering how to identify if my vehicle has the Alpine 320-Watt premium sound system, specifics would be great. Thanks very much.

Congrats on your purchase! Is this your first Jag? I am by no means an expert, but I looked at a 2003 XJ sport before I bought my car and the door speakers had a little chrome badge on them that said " Alpine". I would guess that all premium sound systems have this badging, as my car's say "Harmon Kardon" on them and I have the premium sound. Hope this helps!

 

Thanks for the reply. This is my first Jag, but my mother used to have one and for as long as I can remember, my father's parents have always driven them. IMHO, Jaguars are in a class of there own.

In addition to the premium sound question, can anyone shed some light as to why my XJ has an XJ8 trunk lid emblem instead of the XJ SPORT emblem. The car is definitely a XJ SPORT. Thanks.

 

How do you know it's definitely a Sport? Someone could have taken the badge and it was replaced with a XJ8 emblem.

Thanks for the reply. I know it is a sport because it has all other characteristics of a XJ SPORT (XJR exterior/interior styling, etc.), in addition to that when I used a VIN decoder as well as CARFAX the car is identified as the sport model.

 

Then someone obviously replaced the original emblem.

 

That's what I was thinking... I just want to find out what other's opinions are. Everyone here is very Knowledgeable and I'm happy to be a new member of the Jag community!
