98 VDP Brake Lights
I am having an issue tracking down my brake light problem. All lights work with the exception of the brake lights. I have checked the fuse, bulbs and wire but they are all in good condition. I am going to meter for power tonight but any help for others who may have encountered this problem or have suggestions for be would be appreciated.
Thank you for the reply Jim. I double checked everything and the only part not working is the brake lights themselves.
If the switch was bad would it affect the cruise or could it just affect the lights?

Wouldn't rule out the switch even if cruise works. But I would start with the wiring loom at the hinge point for the trunk (boot).
But there are three brake lights: if all three are not working check the switch.

There are 2 micro switches in the brake light switch, one does the brake lights and the gearshift interface ( locks the gear lever into park unless brake pedal is pressed ) the other the cruise.
If the high level brake light works, suspect the SLCM.
They can suffer a dry solder joint.
