Post 98 XJ8 Wiper decided to stop working

Need a little direction on this one. Out of the clear blue, as usual, the 'ol jag decided to break while parked. Car sat for about 2 weeks, and when I got back into it, the damn windshield wiper decided to no longer work. I have checked fuses, tested wires for power to the wiper motor, and even found a replacement motor at a junk yard and that is not it either. So...here I am scratching my head once again with this car. Has anyone had this happen or have any suggestions on where to look next? Cant get the car inspected now with out a working wiper, much less get caught driving it in the rain. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

JP

I had the same problem on my 1998 xj8 - turned out to be a bad relay switch - cheap part and easy repair

Thank you!!! I had tested one relay, but apparently the one I tested was for speed, not on and off. I changed the other one and they work now! Thanks again!

This is a common failure -- replace both of the relays that control the wipers.
