I think this is pretty common especially with supercharged/turbo cars, when you Google it you get enough reading to keep you going for hours. Problem is everybody just instantly blames the nikasil when anybody mentions it on a Jaguar. My car is a 2000 XJR and when I first noticed the oil in intake I went to my local main dealer to get a blow-by check done, fearing the worst. They took one look and announced it perfectly normal and told me not to worry, just enjoy the car. Recently the head gaskets had to be replaced and since that the oil in intake got much worst. Now I've seen the bores myself and they were like new. I did a compression check and got 150psi on all 8 cylinders, also made sure the part load breather was clear, then fitted oil catch tanks to both breathers along with a one way valve on the part load one. I would say the part load tank shows very minor misting inside, the main one IS catching some oil, and the performance has noticeably increased.
I can't guarantee what oil was put in it after the head gaskets were done so I'm about to change it again myself with Mobil 5-30W fully synthetic as I been told that can have an effect on the amount of oil carry over. If it stays the same as now I won't mind, I'll just empty the tank every so often or rig up some way of draining it back to the sump. The performance is scary and the traction control really struggles any time I accelerate a bit hard so I'm happy enough with my set up at present. Hope this helps you?
