ABS Module Repair Fail?
Hi gents,
Was getting an intermittent - and then consistent - ABS light with traction & stability control fail in my 99 VDP. Took it to dealer who scanned it and told me it was showing the 1095 ABS module code. Elected to remove the module, had an electrical shop open it up, repair the solder joints in the lower right hand corner of the module and urethane seal it back together. Put the module back in the car but still getting the ABS code. Perhaps the circuit board in the top right hand corner is worth a look also? Or are there any other potential issues that could give me the 1095 code? Both the dealer and the forum have suggested that this reading is due to solder joint failure in the module. Let me know your thoughts or if I can provide further information.
Cheers,
David

Ok. Maybe I'm totally out in left field on this, but am I correct in saying that the ABS, trac and stability control fault lights can come on as a result of a bad or dying battery? These systems are very voltage sensitive and my car had the same issues intermittently. Changed the battery and redid the many of the grounds. That seemed to solve the issue and I haven't gotten these faults since.
If you're checking the motor plug, you will be able to check that the motor plug is plugged back in, and connections look OK. The bad connection causes heating and weakens the plug connections.
This is the second lower plug and often gets reduced attention when reinstalling.

Hi guys, fairly confident this is not the result of a bad battery or ground, but I will test again this weekend. Will also have a look at the plugs as well and report back. Thanks for the feedback
Hi gents,
Can confirm that it is not a battery issue. Ran a bunch of tests on the battery and all came back good. ABS/Trac/Stab lights are consistently intermittent as they were before.
Next steps: Check the resistance across the contacts in the plugs and clean them with electrical cleaner?

I recently had to resolder the pins on my XJ6. I did the repair about three years ago but the light came on again a couple of months ago. I thought I had good flow of the solder, but it didn't hold up. This time I used some paste flux and silver solder.

Thanks for the reply. I removed the module, cut the entire right side top cover piece off with a hacksaw and gave it another on all of the joints. Reinstalled it and no lights since. Temporary victory over the VDP
