I was hoping to get into a 98-99 XJ8 for under $4000 but this one seems to have had alot of the problem issues already replaced, does it seem like a reasonable price for this car?

the fact that the trans is rebuilt and the cooling system has been dealt with is a good thing. I would want to check to make sure it had metal timing chain tensioners, if those have been swapped that's not a terrible deal. It looks to be in good condition.

you certainly want to see a full service history though and probably get a full run-through with a knowledgable mechanic

 

The equivalent car in the UK would go for about $3600 USD with 130k miles on it, not easy to sell with those miles. Offer him 3k.

 

If all that has been done is recent, then more money has been invested than what the car is priced.

Check the receipts and take to mechanic. All checks out, offer 4K.
