Default Another Jag?

Hello everyone; long time no see. So as some know I sold my '308 with 113,600 miles in June and I've been missing it so much. Every few days I see a '308 driving in town and my heart breaks. My current car I love but it doesn't have what the Jag had.

Which brings me to my next point, if I were to look for another '308, I'd want something with low miles, updated tensioners, etc. The 2003 model year had the metal tensioners correct? Did the '03 model year have any other upgrades?

And I would most likely want the Mercedes transmission since they last longer than the ZF; is that correct too?

Thanks everyone. Not too sure when I'll get another '308; I have future costs for my education and flight training which aren't cheap. But it's definitely something I'm thinking about / saving up for!

Hi, check the classifieds here 1st. XJR's came with the MB gearbox. I'm not sure of the upgrades in '03 but from what I glanced at, you may be right but I know someone will chime in...

I felt the same way when I bought a 2007 Saab 9-3 Aero after my last X308 died. At first I loved it and was quite proud of it, but the novelty wore off pretty quick. It was fast, high spec and comfortable but it wasn't a Jag so it had to go.

The XJR was the only model that came with the Mercedes box as 4 litre points out, but all is not lost if you choose a NA car with a ZF box as you can fit the upgraded valve which eliminates the issue that caused the boxes to go TransGo 5HP-24-PR Pressure Regulator Valve Repair Kit ZF 5HP24 A BMW Audi Jaguar | eBay

The thing to look for is a car that has been taken care of mechanically, the problem as I see it with European cars in the US is a lack of maintenance. I say this because I have many friends in the USA who have US made cars and they tell me they have massive distances between services. One friend had a Cadillac which apparently only needed servicing every 100,000 miles which compared to the European average of 10-15,000 miles is quite a difference. So many Euro cars in the US end up being neglected according to them.

Anyway I hope the flight training goes well. I have a friend who went to the US from the UK to do his pilots licence and now he works for an airline in Vietnam.
