Default bad fuel sending unit ?

hi guys I think I have bad fuel sending unit the fuel gauge needle was working fine before I change the fuel pump but after I changed the fuel pump the needle was not accurate and goes up and down if I turned hard to right or lift side ! so the mechanic opened the tank and took a look on the sending unit and did some work on it it worked fine then now it just go from 3/4 to full only for example the gauge can only go full or 3/4 doesn't go to empty or half at all what to do ? ist bad feul sending unit that need to changed or its something else?

First we need to know the year and model. Use the User CP in the upper left corner of the web page to include the information in your signature.

updated that signature 3 times still not showing.

car is 2002 xj8

I believe the 02 has the sending unit installed in the back of the tank, making replacement a simple DIY. With the tank about 1/4 full you can remove the old sender and replace it.

How do you know when the tank is 1/4 if the gauge doesn't work? Good question.

I don't know but once it get 3/4 I full it again i work this way couple days now .

the fuel sending unit is inside the tank in the right side time to change it?

If you remove the boot liner, exposing the tank, I think you will see the sending unit below the midpoint on the back wall of the tank. I have attempted to attach a diagram.
