Question belt tensioner pulley

Hello everyone, perhaps any of you know if its possible to press out tensioner pulley bearing, or is it melted in somehow? tensioner works just fine but the pulley sounds really bad.
I had a cooling pipe problem and antifreeze was all over the engine, my guess is that cooling liquid got into bearing and that killed it, because the bearing started "screaming" just after cooling liquid problem. I took the pulley out, injected some bearing oil with syringe, but it didn't last for long. I know that the pulley is only sold with whole tensioner assembly, so I'm thinking of changing the bearing only, hope you could give me some advise.
thanks in advance.

I think I have the same problem.

Just wondering how big a job it is to replace.

The bearing is sealed into the pulley and can not be replaced or greased. Replace the pulley; it can't be that expensive.
Here's one for $54.00 shipped:

chupacabra, I see you are in Lithuania, but I'm sure you have some friends in US to help you with parts for your vehicle.

ant17- replacing it is really easy, just take off the belt and turn tensioners pulley bolt clockwise (right), after replacing it be sure to use some locktite on bolt as it can get loose with a time.

meaculpa - on your link is the idler pulley, it's different from tensioners.I think tensioners pulley comes with whole tensioner assembly because I couldn't find any that is sold separately...

The idler is actually the same size at the tensioner pulley, BUT, the threading on the tensioner puller is counterclockwise.... I had to get a whole tensioner unit, $150 from the dealer... Ouch

Default Replacements

Depending on your belt, single ribbed or double ribbed, determines what you need.
There was another discussion here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...valents-48118/

Easy to remove fans, loosen tension, remove belt, unbolt tensioner. While apart, you may as well do the idler as too.

I found the idler and the tensioner pulleys were the same and could be unbolted from the tensioner and Kragen autoparts had a ford/GATES equivalent for ~$25.
The bearing dust covers can be removed and the old grease cleaned out, and repacked and cover pressed back in, but if yours dried and got water in them they may not be good in any case.
If they got cooling compund on them, they may squeal more.

got a new tensioners pulley, not jaguars but its the same and it costed me 20$ it's from land rover I think... anyway vw phaeton v6 has the same pulley so you dont have to buy whole tensioner thing. And the bearing of the pulley can be pressed out, you just need to cut the plastic edges that hold the bearing, heat it with heater gun and use the bearing puller (or whatever it's called). in my case only the bearing would cost me 19$ so I took the whole pulley....

Take off the tensioner (13 mm) undo the pulley bolt (left hand thread 15 mm).
replace bearing by pressing it out and re-assemble. Instructions for the real world: as above but, after you've broken the bolt for the pulley, drill out the remains, tap the hole for a new bolt, do the bearing thing and re-assemble with a normal bolt. Then drill a hole through the top of the tensioner body and the new bolt and insert either a role pin or a cotter to keep the new bolt from turning when you use the tensioner.

Look at post number 6 in the following thread, Sean B.'s post. He breaks down how to cheaply, and yet with high quality, replace all the bearings. I ordered the part numbers he listed and changed all four pulley bearings in less than 2 hours. Maybe scanning through the thread will be helpful to you.

All my pulleys was screaming when i bought my car.. when i replaced all the tensioners i carefully pulled the plasticside of the bearings, inspected the bearing for damage, and if ok i regreased them with a good bearinggreese and refitted the plasic cover.. piece of cake.. :-)
At the same time i removed the pulley from the AC-pump and did the same thing.. 30 000km's later they are still good...
